I am currently an ORISE participant at the United States Environmental Protection Agency's National Fuel and Vehicle Emissions Laboratory. I have been active in several projects including helping to develop tools that help to better understand measurements on non-volatile particulate matter.
I did my graduate studies in the physics department at Ohio State University in the Zhong Group. I studied protein conformational dynamics, specifically of heme proteins, utilizing ultra-fast laser spectroscopy techniques and protein engineering. I used resonance energy transfer pairs to locally probe distance changes using ultrafast pump-probe fluorescence upconversion and have worked on studies of ligand binding to the heme. I also examined the structural changes arising upon release of these ligands through pump-probe transient absorption experiments.
